Kindly invite you to take part in EBA Toastmasters club’s debates to be conducted on November’1।
For your information the following debates rules.
Debates is a formal method of interactive and representational argument. Logical consistency and factual accuracy are important elements in debating. As well as a degree of rhetorical, emotional appeal to the audience – as a technique of persuasion. The major goal of the debate as an art of public speaking is to develop one's ability to play from either position with equal ease.
In a formal debating contest, there are rules for participants to discuss and decide.
- Two roles in Debates are appointed beforehand – the Moderator and the Timer.
- The rest of participants are able to choose whether to join an Affirmative or Negative team, or to take the role of Judge.
- Debating is a Contest, at the result of which one Team is announced to be winner. The main task of the winner team is to persuade the Judges, not each other.

The schedule:
I. Introduction part.
• All participants take the seats around the table. Moderator announces the topic of debates, answers the question about the meaning of the terms in order to reach the common understanding and agreement to Debate on chosen topic. (max 3 minutes)
•Moderator asks everybody to express an argument to maintain the “For” or Affirmative point of view. People can take the floor several times, but each speech might be 30 ‘’ max.
• Next step, everybody is asked to express the argument in supporting the “Against” or Negative opinion। The rules regarding time limit and possibility to speak several times are the same.• Making the notes, recording the arguments, is welcomed during this part।


II। Main part. • Two teams, “For”, or Affirmative and “Against”, or Negative are emerged. There are four people in each team with the following roles: Title speaker, Supporting speaker, Summarizing Speaker and Enquirer.• The rest of participants become Judges.• During 2 minutes Teams have possibility to shape the common platform, withdraw the strongest arguments, distribute roles and coordinate actions.• The Title speaker of Affirmative team opens the main part of the Debates. His speech duration is 4 minutes, he delivers the most strong arguments of Affirmative team. • Than, the Enquirer of Negative team questions the Title Speaker, taking to the light the weaknesses of the argumentation. 2 minutes for questions and answers.• The Title speaker of Negative team is taking the floor and speaks for 4 minutes.• The Enquirer of Affirmative team asks questions to withdraw the weak points of opposite argumentation. 2 minutes for questions and answers.• The Supporting Speakers are speak for 3 minutes, their task is to deliver supporting facts, statistics, examples from their own experience, etc. to maintain the position of their team.• They both also need to answer the questions of Enquirer of opposite team. The duration for questions and answers is 2 minutes.• The Summarizing speakers during 2 minutes Sum Up the argumentation of “For” and “Against” positions respectively.• Participants from both teams are applying to Judges, as if it was Jury Trial.


III। Final part and voting. • Judges make secret voting.• Moderator announces the winner Team.• Judges make comments, max 1 minute for each speech.• Moderator and Timer also have possibility to comment the Debates. 1 minutes for each speech.• Moderator Adjourn the session.
