It's a great honor and also pretty scary to compete in your "home" club. Never been more worried before. It's like - many many years back - you come in front of your family and tell them that you're going to be a kosmonaut. "Like Gagarin?" they ask. And smile, and look at you and think: "kosmonaut? '.... you'd better go and clean up your room!" And you see those looks and understand that your family is the most demanding audience in the world. Toastmasters are same and different. Because they know - if you don't give up - you'll be a Gagarin of public speaking one day! Thank you, folks! :)

I am really appreciate having the chance to participate in speech contest. It gave me the chance to practice my speaking abilities and one more time to prove myself that I have to work on some issues to be more successful. I was impressed by preparation of all participants. All topics captured audience attention and forced us to think over important life tasks and situations. Thank you for your attitude and devotion.

Anna Naleskina
Ultimate experience.
Almost everything in our life could be postponed, even important business meeting.
Except, probably, Speech Contest. It's not possible to shift.
Contest is coming like a train, according to the schedule.
Guests are arriving, judges already confirmed participation, speakers rehearse speeches ....

I'm in the list of speakers. A short attack of panic ...
Oh my God, I've had a taught day, I'm sick, my throat is sore, my speech is not prepared well enough and this awful traffic jam ...
No, forgive me, I can't!

But how can I let down, I'm in the list of speakers and I'm an officer of the EBA Club.
It is really breathtaking feeling. You are ultimately you. With your ideas, voice, body, gestures....
Just go ahead and speak.
At this moment everything changed.
Panic has drown back, thoughts were raised, even sore throat worked nearly OK.
Great!
I'm ultimately alone and I could do it!

The afterward feeling was fantastic.
A wonderful combination of joy, satisfaction, understanding that something was done well and some inside barrier has been overcome .
The mighty part of me conquered!
Is'n it the biggest achievement?

Brgds,
Svetlana Nesterenko
EBA Toastmasters President
